A category system in Citavi can best be compared to the outline of a document or the table of contents of a book.
Switch to the Knowledge Organizer by clicking Knowledge.
Create the initial version of your category system.
Later on you can always go back and add to categories and change their names or order.
Click Categories, then click New category or subcategory and then select New category.
Give the category a name.
The first category is created. Citavi assigns category numbers dynamically.
Add additional categories, for example, for a section in a chapter. To do this you would add a New subcategory.
Add as many new categories and subcategories as you want.
This is how an initial category system might look. Using the Arrow buttons, you can change the order and the hierarchical structure of the categories.
If you already have a document with an outline (for example, a Word document), you can import it and Citavi will create a category system from the document.
